The Illusion of Unknowing

The Illusion of Unknowing

Thoughts of People:

„No one really knows…“

Yes, everything is. But our mind is an essential part of being human—it allows us to gain experience, acquire knowledge, and consciously recognize what is good for us. Not knowing or wanting to know begins in our mind. Similarly, we can choose to ignore our thoughts and beliefs. But the moment we start asking questions or cling to the idea that no one can truly know anything, we deny our own nature as human beings.

Our nature lies in doing what brings peace to our body and mind. It is not about knowing everything or insisting that no one knows anything. Rather, we should realize that these thoughts arise within our mind. We can choose to ignore knowledge and live by the belief that it is unnecessary—or we can consciously use our thoughts to shape the life we desire. And we all have the ability to learn from one another and, through exchange with others, expand our knowledge—creating our lives according to our own vision.

Personal Experience

I, too, once believed that all our thoughts were deceptive or that no one could truly know what is right. But I realized that I have the ability to listen to my inner being—beyond my thoughts. To consciously perceive my body and sense what needs to be done in the present moment. Even now, I use my mind intentionally, not only to give myself attention but also to extend it to others. Ignoring my thoughts as a human being would mean denying myself. Because in every moment, I decide anew how I perceive and shape my world through my thoughts.

Approach

Do you also believe that no one can truly know how things are? Then you might be overlooking life itself—and the knowledge within it. Maybe you feel driven by authorities, statements, or the opinions of others. But become aware that these unconscious processes in your mind can keep you from connecting with your true self.

You have the ability to recognize what is truly happening within you—what you think, what you feel. And you can observe whether you are being influenced by external forces and bring these unconscious processes into your awareness. Because only you know what is good for you and how you want to shape your life. So don’t ignore others—learn from them instead.

Take a moment to reflect on these questions:

  • Why do the statements of others trigger something in me?
  • How can I reflect on others’ perspectives and consciously use them for myself?
  • What keeps me from embracing the knowledge of others instead of ignoring it?
  • What bothers me about authority—and what does that reveal about me?
