Developing rituals
Underlying thoughts of people:
“Have you developed any specific rituals for yourself?”
Healing means being aware of our thoughts, feelings and actions. We reflect on what still has a place in our live and what doesn’t. We think and act accordingly and create a life according to our ideas – self-determined, and know that our entire life is controlled by our energy and we may build small rituals into our lives to do ourselves good.
My experience
I used to not care about myself and my body. I ignored myself, sacrificed myself for other people and was neither aware that we ourselves are responsible for our lives nor was I aware of the energy I was bringing into the world. But over time, I reflected on my life and continually realized that it is solely my responsibility to shape my life and bring myself well-being.
Today I only listen to my body and do what is good for me. Physical exercise in nature, as well as rest and a balanced and healthy diet, are basic components of my life. Small rituals like enjoying an espresso, tea or matcha in the morning to start the day serve me and my well-being. Rituals such as regular massages and sauna visits, as well as watching a film every now and then, are part of my rituals.
Traveling when my intuition tells me to is part of my development process. For me, my rituals consist of constantly facing new challenges, acquiring new knowledge or getting to know other people. My nature requires a certain regularity, which means that a balanced diet, enough sleep and getting up early determine the rhythm of my life. I go to bed as soon as I’m tired and get up as soon as I’m awake. I don’t live by the alarm clock, but let my inner rhythm determine it. Daily stretching or Yin yoga sessions are a basic part of my morning.
Do the following
Reflect on your day and what brings you well-being. Don’t force yourself into routines or rituals that don’t suit your nature. Listen only to your body and what gives you ease. Small rituals can be daily healing for your mind and your body. But this should not be a compulsion, but rather a blessing for you. Try out what brings you well-being and incorporate your own rituals into your day if it feels right for you.
Go within yourself and ask yourself the following questions:
- Do I really need rituals, or is it not time for them yet?
- Which rituals are good for my body?
- How can I find out my own natural rhythm of life?
- How can I adapt my activity to my rhythm – not the other way around?
